In the system there are Captains and Warchiefs too.
Every time you kill a sNemesi, another is added to the system. Every uruk in the system differs from the others in some way. Albeit kind of limited once you saturate the board. I haven’t even brought up the whole reason the game exists. (lord knows i would be terrible at this game on console) Of course a lot of that access comes later in the game, but if the game’s fast paces combat doesn’t keep you interested, and the stealth doesn’t make the hairs stand up on end, then the rapid progression system will always give you something new to chew on.Įvery step of the tree makes the next combat encounter feel less like a chore to move to the next part of the game, and more like an opportunity to further explore your options and surroundings to gain the upper hand.įrom more kinds of insta-kills, to across the map teleporting with your bow, the game feels bigger and bigger with every skill point.
There are even runes in the game that heal you from certain kinds of kills.Ĭombat finishers insta-kill from above, below, behind brutalizing combo boosters. Got a bunch of Uruks on your ass? just run around a corner, up a ledge, or in a bush and wait for one of them to come back into view. Its been central to my play-style in any game that has it for that very reason. In my opinion, Invisibility will always be an overpowered mechanic. I just knew i could turn on some tunes and walk through the world bringing death and destruction everywhere i went, at my discretion.Īs with any game who’s following in AC’s footsteps, there are stealth mechanics.
Whatever it is, I was fully into this game. Maybe its the different approaches of dispatching, navigating, and fighting them. Maybe its the abundance of stuff to fuck with when bringing down a strongholds of uruks. I bring it up because it wasn’t until I was well into Shadow of Mordor that i realized it was doing the same thing: Climbing impossible ledges and stabbing people. Walking around felt frustrating to me in that game, even if i never really gave it a sit down. Its whole parkour thing with some stabbies. I think I messed with it a couple of times.
